Master Plan
ERO utilises the SEMP program to develop a customised Master plan that takes a holistic view of your operations and helps you develop and implement objectives and strategies that will improve your operating efficiency (e.g. kWh/Occupant & kL/Occupant), thus reducing your impact on the environment (kg CO2) and saving costs (Rands) .
The Sustainable Environmental Management Program (SEMP) consists of two main pillars:
- Facility Management
- Organizational Environmental Management
Facility Management
• Plant and Equipment: Understanding utilities: assessing equipment knowledge, consumption drivers, and conservation measures.
• Supply side management: knowledge of tariffs and supply conditions.
• Staff involvement: engaging staff through sharing utility information and educational interventions.
• Monitoring and reporting: tracking performance against key performance indicators and verifying accounts.
• Performance: evaluating actual energy and water usage against set targets.
Organizational Environmental Management
• Leadership commitment: evaluating the support from leaders in establishing and maintaining the program.
• Financial management: monitoring utility expenses compared to the budget.
• Utility planning: managing actual energy and water consumption against established baselines.
• Understanding utilities: assessing equipment knowledge, consumption drivers, and conservation measures.
• Operations and maintenance: reviewing equipment status and maintenance practices to minimize breakdowns.
The Sustainable Environmental Management Program is available at different levels to cater to the needs of a wide range of customers, ranging from small guest houses to large corporate groups.
Energy and water efficiency, delivered through the ERO Sustainable Environmental Management Program (SEMP), provides businesses with a range of tools and solutions to reduce utility bills, curb carbon emissions, and save money at the same time.
